Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 375 degrees.
In a big bowl, use an electric mixer on medium speed to blend the softened butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until it's creamy.
Put in the eggs, vanilla extract, salt, and baking soda. Keep mixing on medium speed until everything is smooth and well-mixed.
Gradually add the all-purpose flour. Start on low speed until the flour isn't loose anymore, then switch to medium speed until it's all mixed in.
Toss in those semisweet chocolate chips and mix until they're happily spread throughout the cookie dough.
Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Use a medium-sized cookie scooper to drop dough blobs (about 2 tablespoons each) onto the sheet, making sure they're at least 2 inches apart.
Pop them in the preheated oven for 9 to 11 minutes. Keep an eye on them. When the edges turn a lovely brown and the cookies are set, they're ready.
Carefully slide the parchment paper (with the cookies) off the sheet and onto the counter to cool. If you're not using parchment paper, let the cookies chill for a minute on the sheet, then move them to a counter or wire rack.
