Instructions

  • Set your oven to 425°F (220°C). Let it fully preheat before placing the potatoes inside.
  • Step 2: Wash the Potatoes
  • Wash the russet potatoes thoroughly under running water. Scrub off any dirt and remove any sprouts. Pat them dry with a clean towel.
  • Step 3: Prepare the Foil
  • Cut six large pieces of foil. Spray each piece lightly with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  • Step 4: Poke or Slit the Potatoes
  • Use a knife or fork to poke holes or make a small slit in each potato. This prevents them from bursting while baking.
  • Step 5: Season the Potatoes
  • Place each potato on its own foil sheet. Brush melted butter or olive oil all over the potato. Sprinkle seasoning salt evenly on all sides.
  • Step 6: Wrap and Seal
  • Wrap each potato tightly in foil. Press the foil firmly around the potato to seal it well.
  • Step 7: Bake
  • Place the wrapped potatoes directly on the oven rack or a baking tray. Bake for 60 minutes or until the potatoes are soft when pierced with a fork.
  • Step 8: Add Toppings
  • Remove from the oven carefully. Open the foil and cut a slit halfway down the middle. Gently squeeze the ends to fluff the inside.
  • Top with:
  • Butter
  • Sour cream
  • Shredded cheddar cheese
  • Green onions
  • Salt and pepper
  • Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

Always use large russet potatoes for best results.
Baking time may vary depending on potato size.
If you want crispier skin, bake without foil for the last 10 minutes.
Let the potatoes rest for 5 minutes before cutting.
