In a big bowl, mix the flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
In another large bowl, whisk together eggs, melted butter, buttermilk, and water until well combined.
Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and gently whisk until just combined.
Pour oil into a large frying pan, cast-iron skillet, or griddle over medium-low heat.
Pour in ½ to ¾ cup of batter for each cake, making sure they don't touch.
Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side or until the cakes are light, fluffy, and cooked throughout.
Serve with fresh berries, butter, and maple syrup.
