Follow these simple steps to prepare your fruit cocktail cake:
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
Lightly grease a 9-inch square baking pan with butter.
In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs using a whisk until bubbly and frothy.
Add the caster sugar and salt. Mix well until fully dissolved.
In another bowl, combine flour and baking soda. Stir well.
Gradually add the dry ingredients into the egg mixture and mix gently.
Add the fruit cocktail along with all the syrup. Do not drain it. Fold everything together until combined.
Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
