Instructions

  • Instructions
  • Place a medium pot on your stove over medium heat.
  • Add 1 ½ cups raw sugar and 1 ½ cups water to the pot.
  • Stir gently and allow the sugar to dissolve completely. Keep stirring to prevent burning. This usually takes about 5–8 minutes.
  • Once fully dissolved, remove from heat.
  • Let the syrup cool completely to room temperature. This step is very important before adding alcohol.
  • Once the syrup is fully cooled:
  • Pour 1 ½ cups moonshine into a clean glass jar.
  • Add ¾ cup brandy.
  • Add 1 ½ teaspoons butterscotch extract.
  • Pour the cooled simple syrup into the jar with the alcohol mixture.
  • Close the lid tightly.
  • Shake the jar for about 40 seconds to mix everything thoroughly.
  • Let the jar sit for at least 48 hours before drinking. This resting time allows the flavors to blend perfectly.
  • After 48 hours, your butterscotch moonshine is ready to enjoy.

Notes

Always let the syrup cool fully before adding alcohol.
If using white sugar, you can add a small drop of brown food coloring for a darker look.
The longer it rests, the smoother the flavor becomes.
Store in a sealed jar to preserve freshness.
