  • Open the bag of Goya green split peas, sort them, and wash them.
  • Heat the olive oil in an 8-quart pot on medium heat.
  • Add chopped onion, minced garlic, diced carrot, and diced smoked ham to the pot.
  • Stir and cook for five minutes.
  • Add 6 cups of water and bring to a boil on medium-high heat.
  • Add Goya Peas, Chicken Bouillon, and Sazon.
  • Stir with a wooden spoon to mix and reduce the heat to low.
  • Simmer for 1 to 1 1/2 hours or until peas are tender.
  • Add salt and ground black pepper according to your taste.
  • If it's necessary, add some additional hot water.
  • After finishing cooking, you can serve it up in individual bowls.
  • Top it with cheese or croutons to make it even more tasty and delicious.
