Ingredients
  

For The Cake:

  • 2 ½ cups King Arthur Cake Flour, Recommended
  • 1 ⅓ cups White Sugar
  • 4 tsp Baking Powder
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • 6 Large Egg Whites
  • 1 cup Whole Milk, at room temperature
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1 ½ Sticks Unsalted Butter, at room temperature

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a cake pan.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the cake flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • In a separate bowl, mix together the egg whites, milk, and vanilla extract until it's smooth and well combined.
  • Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and beat until the mixture is smooth. Then, add the room-temperature butter and continue mixing until the batter is smooth.
  • Transfer the cake batter to the greased cake pan and bake for approximately 30 minutes. You can check if it's done by inserting a toothpick into the center of the cake; if it comes out clean, the cake is ready to be taken out of the oven.
  • Allow the cake to cool completely, and then slice it into two equal layers.
  • While the cake is cooling, prepare the cream filling. In a mixing bowl, use a handheld mixer to whip the heavy whipping cream until soft peaks form.
  • Add the sugar, cream Of tartar, and vanilla extract to the whipped cream and continue to whisk.
  • To make the strawberry sauce, combine the strawberries, sugar, and water in a small saucepan. Stir well and heat until the strawberries release their juices and become soft.
  • Spread a layer of whipped cream between the two cake layers and top it with the strawberry sauce.
  • Place the second cake layer on top and repeat the process with another layer of whipped cream and more strawberries.
  • Garnish the cake with additional strawberries, and it's ready to serve.
